TRIBUTE TO OUR FATHER

THE DEAD - THEY SLEEP A LONG LONG SLEEP
THE DEAD- THEY REST AND THEIR REST IS DEEP

THE DEAD HAVE REST- BUT THE LIVING WEEP.

IN REMBRANCE OF OUR FATHER.

In fond memory of our Father who brought us into this world.

Who put bread on our Tables.

Who clothed us with clothes.

And gave a roof over our heads.

You will always be remembered by all of us.May your Soul rest in Peace.

THE CAR HAS ARRIVED.

THE BEGINNINGOF THE LAST DAY OF OUR FATHER HERE ON PLANET EARTH.TODAY HIS BODY WILL HAVE TO LEAVE ALL OF US.TODAY HIS BODY WILL MAKE ITS FINAL JOURNEY OF NO RETURN. BY SUNSET TODAY, HIS PHYSICAL BODY WILL BE TURNED TO DUST AND ASHES.THIS IS THE LAST MORNING FOR HIM

The family had made the best arrangements for him for his final departure. Our father did not drive a car all his days. And I dont think he has ever sat in a Mercedes Car before. This will be the first and the last time in a Mercedes for him.Farewell.

I have never seen my sister so sad in all her life. Eswary & Somu sacrificed a lot during the last days of our father. Made sure he had proper food and took him on numerous trips to the hospital. In that sense, our father was very blessed as he had family to care for him until the end.

In his early days, our father was a very hard working man. Leaves the house early after breakfast and only returns at night. I guess the burden was heavy on him to raise 4 children and to send them for education. I think he stopped working when sickness stepped in. Mum said his problems started when he was 60 years old.

He lived a long life and saw three of his grandchildren grow up to be adults.

The 2 beloved in the family- Appu and Sri Baratthan.( I hope the spelling is correct)

INITIATION OF THE LAST RITES.

ANNI & SISTER ESWARY.

This is my sister with Anni- she is breaking the pot a little to let the water out. There must be some meaning related to this ritual. But I was afraid to ask my mum because I know she will take about 20 minutes to explain. The when I call her from KL again, she will take another 20 minutes to explain what she had earlier explained.

MT.ERSKINE- PLACE OF INCINERATION

Well, our Fathers body has been brought here- where "it" will be burnt. The doors are not open yet. It is quite a dreadful place.I guess many bodies have already gone in there by now.
This is the priest. He was the main man in guiding my family in all the rituals.

My eldest brother was very sorrowful..always looked at our father in a very "feeling" way.

My youngest brother. I was more sad looking at my 2 brothers, sister, brother -in-law and my mother than anything else.
And now for the final send off. There were lots of shouts .."Om Shanti..Om Shanti..Om Shanti...

My sisters eldest son- Mr. Appu paying his last respects. On the farther side is my father's elder brother's son- Mr. Visvanathan. The last I saw him was about 30 to 40 years ago.

Leave me now my friends, leave me and depart with silent feet,

As the silence invites me into this lonely exit

Leave me to God and disperse slowly

Go home and you will find there...old time memories

Which even death cannot remove from you and me

Leave me in peace- for what you see here -

Is beyond rational explanation, logic or meaning.

I take my leave now from thyself-into the unseen yonder

I am returning to where I came from.

To Rejoin the Hurrying Silent Wind.
Soul of Mr. Ganapathy
